Notes on "Jerseys" from director Aaron Ruell.

We shot the spot on steadicam in two parts and brought in the mill to do some work in order to make it feel like it's one continuous shot.

The first shot has Durant wearing four jerseys all on top of each other (my stylist made each of these jerseys, and had cut each of the sleeve portions ever so slightly skinner with each jersey that was underneath so that you wouldn't be able to see it.  The Mill also did some clean up work where you could see jerseys peaking out underneath).  He just peels these jerseys off, and everything is 'in camera.'

Once we get to the McDonald's jersey, we have a coach wipe in front of Durant.  That's where we cut and reset Durant with three new jerseys.  We kept the McDonald’s jersey on top, and underneath we had the final two. This is where the majority of the mill's work came in.  They made sure that that wipe from the first shot to the second was as seamless as possible.

I purposely kept Durant in the McDonald's jersey before and after the wipe so that it wouldn't feel so much like a cheat.  Like, here's a coach obviously wiping the screen, but yet, Durant is the same after it happens. I wanted it to feel as subtle and as much like one shot as possible.
