Blacklist Takes Wizz

New York-based animation production company Blacklist is pleased to announce that French directorial and design collective Wizz has joined their roster for US representation. Blacklist is also pleased to announce that Wizz has completed their first project with Blacklist, “Big Dig” for Yahoo! Mail via Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

Paris-based Wizz produces all types of visual communication work across many platforms including advertising, short and feature films, TV idents, mobile applications and digital campaigns. Their goal is creative collaboration with a wide array of talents including videographers, animators, designers, composers, photographers, illustrators and graphic artists – regardless of the techniques and machinations of their craft. This principle of mixing mediums enables Wizz to provide unique graphic production solutions, while allowing them to work in an environment that is adaptive and rich with creativity.

“Wizz has fresh voices and compelling work grounded in solid artistic and storytelling traditions,” says Adina Sales, Managing Director/ Executive Producer, Blacklist. “It’s visually exciting work and we feel they are a perfect compliment to the rest of our line up. Wizz also adds a lot of depth to our roster by doubling the number of directors we offer, while housing those teams at a sophisticated and well run studio.”

Check out Wizz’s reel.

Royal Wedding. Royal Smedding.

Royal Wedding. Royal Smedding.

Ya, I’ve kinda already had enough of the Royal Wedding, but I do like this spot for T-Mobile with some great look-a-likes (I don’t normally like gingers, but that Harry look-a-like is pretty darn cute).

Volkswagen Canada for Earth Day

Volkswagen Canada for Earth Day

Earth Day is this Friday and Red Urban Canada has released a campaign for Volkswagen Canada as part of the worldwide Think Blue campaign. The visually beautiful Globe spot, shot and directed by Steve Gordon (Untitled Films), culminates with the message that “by checking our tire pressure regularly, we could save 24 million litres of gasoline a day.” To raise awareness for the campaign Red Urban also created touch-screen displays at auto shows that feature other clean driving tips. Images of those and a full release with complete campaign credits is posted here.

I Love Nadège Patisserie

Yes, this is a post about a patisserie I like to go to and eat no-nos that would make my crossfit instructor cringe. A girl’s gotta live. I also love their white minimal interior. It’s like being at home but better because I’m surrounded by pretty pastries. Check out Le Film on their site (top right button on main page). Yum.

Matt Rix Rocks

Matt Rix Rocks

Last night I attended Inter-Action, a bi-monthly thinktank/discussion group/task force for interactive
thinkers in Toronto. And last night I saw what I thought to be by far the best and most inspiring presentation ever.

In his free time, Matt Rix designed and created Trainyard, one of the most challenging and successful iPhone games of 2010. It took him a year to do it and to date he’s made about 650K on it. Nicely done Matt. He even had time to have a (very cute) baby in the process. That’s multitasking. Trainyard was the number two most downloaded App for a while, sitting on top of Angry Birds at number 3. Great story. Great presentation – an online version of Matt’s presentation is here.

Bacardi Manifesto

Nice work by Y&R New York and Nexus for Bacardi. I’m not a rum and coke fan. I prefer vodka (Bacardi also owns Grey Goose).

Fly with Psyop

Fly with Psyop

Here’s something a bit different from Psyop – a spot that’s completely live-action. In “Come Fly With Us” Psyop applies a narrative approach to the flashmob genre and tells a sweet little story for American Airlines. Agency: The Marketing Arm.
