Peter Saville on His Album Cover Art

In this past Sunday’s Guardian, design legend Peter Saville took readers through his favourite album covers that he did for Joy Division and New Order. A must read for any fan. I’ve been debating getting the True Faith leaf (pictured) tattooed on my wrist, in a colour slightly darker than my skin tone. After reading about its creation, I like it even more. I wish that he would have included Movement in this list, as it’s another favourite of mine.

Clever Logos

Here’s a nice selection of logos with hidden symbolism (some are creatively better “hidden” than others). Scooped from Bored Panda (nothing worse than a bored panda).

Oh To Be Young & Irresponsible

Oh To Be Young & Irresponsible

Yep, I want to be 18 and carefree again. Right now. Or I’ll take my age now (what it is is none of your business) and the body I had at 18. Ya. That instead. I digress.

Here’s a great summertime spot for PacSun – Dress Irresponsibly. Agency is 72andSunny, its directed by SoMe (Caviar Content) and edited by Kim Bica (Arcade Edit). The spot features the Sinatra track Call Me Irresponsible, it includes appearances by skate, surf and motocross athletes Rob Machado, Bucky Lasek, Chris Pfanner, Ryan Dungey and Jeff McMillan, in action sports brands such as Hurley, RVCA, Fox Racing, Volcom, Quiksilver, Roxy, DC, O’Neill, Billabong and Element.

World of Food

I really like this project by Christopher Boffoli, a Seattle-based writer, photographer, filmmaker and artist. The variety amongst the pieces is great. Mush have been a lot of fun to create. Scooped from Johan at An Ad A Day.

Sour Cream Love

Sour Cream Love

Here are two super cute spots for Breakstone’s sour cream via The Martin Agency. They both star an animated sour cream carton character created by Toronto’s axyz. Both are directed by David Hicks, B-Reel Films.

Both spots end with the tagline “the food your other food loves”. “Potato” features the animated sour cream carton character serenading a potato with REO Speedwagon’s “Keep on Loving You”. While in “Taco” he references a Spanish-English dictionary to express his love to a taco. Really nice character design and I love sour cream – especially on homemade pierogis. Full credits.
