typegoodness
Introducing typegoodness the latest from Fredrick Samuel, the creator of the hugely successful advertising/design goodness. Freddy describes the site as focusing "on all the beautiful typography around the world. This is a showcase, as well as a resource of inspiration and finding anything related to type. We cover anything from Digital, to Print, to showcasing free fonts." Unlike a/d goodness, typegoodness is more a community-based site where registered user can contribute content. Be sure to check out the great opening sequence for HBO's Bored to Death which was posted today (which I SO should have got a thank you for).

Baby animals in clothes. I caught this NY Lottery spot on TV a few nights ago - super cute. Agency is DDB New York and it's directed by Randy Krallman. Yep, sweeter than sweet.

Cisma for Lilica Ripilica
Here's the latest from Blacklist's Cisma for Brazilian retailer Lilica Ripilica, a clothing brand for girls. The spot is called Espelhos, which means mirrors in English (thanks Denis). Here's some notes from Cisma on the spot:

In this new spot, created by OpusMultipla and produced by Margarida Films, an Ink Group Company, shows a little girl that discovers a world of dreams and fantasy through her own reflection in the mirror. This “portal” transports her through different worlds, in a magical parallel world. To interpret all situations, twin sisters rehearsed to perform with perfection identical and inverse movements, in a choreographed dance, becoming the reflection of each other. A real hall of mirrors was constructed to make the optical tricks. Ilegal FX created the visual effects.

Legs Create a 12-foot Zoetrope for Temperley London
Temperley London was looking for a way to use film to show their 2010 spring line for New York fashion week. They found NYC collective Legs through their connections at Milk Studios (Legs is a part of the Milk Group) and Legs came up with the idea of making a 12-foot-tall zoetrope. Alice Temperley loved the idea and the end result is this amazing Circus Zoetrope which was unveiled last Thursday at New York Fashion week and is now in London for Fashion Week. Complete info from Legs on the project is here along with some stills and full credits. Love it.

Cadbury's Music Video
I have seen this spot making the rounds, but it wasn't until I got the Creative Review newsletter this AM that I took the time to watch it. I knew it was another Glass and a Half Full Production, and directed by Ringan Ledwidge (love), but reading this story on Creative Review gave me the full Ghana fairtrade scoop. In short, this spot is a music video for the single Zingolo made in collaboration with Ghanaian music star Tinny. It was shot on location in Ghana and, from what I read, all profits made from the sales of the song on iTunes go towards educational projects in Ghana. Nice. Agency is Fallon, London.

Douglas Coupland Generation A Films
Generation A is the follow up novel to Douglas Coupland's 1991 cult hit Generation X. As with the campaign for his 2007 novel The Gum Thief, Random House Canada again came to Crush to create a series of films. Last time it was nine, this time three - 10 Question for Douglas Coupland, The Tragic Death of the Channel Three News Team and Colour Samples. Here's how Gary Thomas, Crush Creative Director, compares this new campaign to the last.

"In both campaigns we let the content of the books drive our creative. The books are quite different, structurally and thematically. We had Doug this time, and since the characters in Generation A are all isolated and asked a series of seemingly random questions by a disembodied voice, we decided to subject Doug to the same experience."

The films broke two weeks ago on iTunes, which had exclusivity on them until now. Full credits are more info from Gary Thomas on the campaign is here. Generation A is currently available in Canada and the UK and coming out in the US in November.

HBO Imagine
Here it is - HBO's long awaited follow-up to Voyeur, Imagine. Word is that they have been working on this campaign since Voyeur launched. BBDO New York headed up the campaign along with The Barbarian Group and Biscuit Filmworks director Noam Murro. Launched earlier this week, HBOImagine.com operates under the premise "it's more than you imaged" and showcases a series of films shot from four angles and depending on how you watch them, your experience is different. Go to the site, check out the films and you'll see what I mean. In addition to the website, they also created a giant cube that will showcase the films . It was placed in NYC's Meatpacking District this week and will move to other US cities including Philadelphia and Washington. More info is on the Barbarian Blog (thanks Eva).

Psyop at the Emmy's
As you see from a couple of posts down, Psyop and W+K Portland won an Emmy for Coca-Cola Heist this past Saturday. Here's what Psyop Founder and Creative Director Kylie Matulick had to say about her and Todd Mueller's night at the Emmy's:
About a quarter of the way through the awards presentation they announced the nominees of the best commercial category and Todd and l just looked at each other and went pale! It was the big moment! But after playing the first spot they quickly moved on to the next category and we realized that they were going to pepper the show with the nominated commercials and proceed to torture us for the next 4 hours! What we saw though were 7 other spots that were all amazingly funny and entertaining. By the time they opened the announcement card we just felt great to have been nominated with this awesome group knowing that there was no way in hell we'd win out over Porn, a Scorsese-selling time share, and an alien Alec Baldwin......and then we heard "Coke.....Heist". Suffice to say the rest of the evening was like floating on a cloud. It felt great to get that kind of recognition and it's a wonderful accolade for all the talented artists who work their asses off at Psyop to make something amazing.
A full size pic of Todd and Kylie at the Emmy's is here.

Blacklist Art Show
I'm pleased to report that last Thursday's Blacklist Art Show featuring Forth Estate was a big success. Blacklist EP Adina Sales had this to say about the night. "The artwork featured were limited edition prints from emerging artists - a nice parallel to what Blacklist does. The city was a flutter with lots of activity in NYC surrounding Fashion Week.  The Blacklist exhibition was filled with a fantastic mix of folks from the NY art and advertising communities. The event was particularly refreshing as it didn't feel like the standard industry fare." I'm happy to hear it went so well and wish I could have been there. A selection of pics from the night are posted here.

Coupland's back and he's chatty
Douglas Coupland is back with Generation A, a follow up to his acclaimed 1991 novel Generation X. It was two years ago when the award-winning campaign, created by Crush, for his last novel The Gum Thief broke. To promote Generation A, Random House Canada again came to Crush (no agency) and this time the book is being launched via a series of podcasts on iTunes. Crush directed and produced the spots along with David Hicks and their sister company Sons and Daughters. At the time of this post, the first three had been launched and the first one is currently the number one most most downloaded podcast on iTunes. I'm a fan of Coupland and I love how the first podcast gives you an intimate look inside his kooky head - and I mean that in the most respectful and nicest of ways. It's quite a trip. I LOVE the fake ads and the instructions on how to make an Earth sandwich. There's a little teaser of what to expect on YouTube. The second and third showcase Crush's visual talents. Can't wait to check out more.
