2010 Saatchi & Saatchi New Director's Showcase

Every year one of my favourite things to attend in Cannes is the Saatchi & Saatchi New Director’s Showcase. This year’s showcase was amazing, but first off, I have to discuss the opening. Via the use of of hologram technology, a deceased Paul Arden was resurrected and joined Saatchi & Saatchi’s creative director for global culture Richard Myers to open the show. I found it a bit odd & creepy (vid here).

Anyway, back to the showcase. At last year’s showcase I was familiar with most of the work – I had seen most of it before the screening. But this year I was pleasantly surprised by a showcase full of a lot work I had not seen – so refreshing. I was with Eliza Williams from Creative Review and she agreed that many were new to her as well. Here’s a few that I really enjoyed.

Joe Penna’s (Rhett & Link Inc) 222 T-Shirts

NEZ’s (Colonel Blimp) film for Halston

Loved Saman Keshavarz’s (Might8) music video for Cinnamon Chasers

Drunk History – hilarious idea by Jeremy Konner (Partizan)

The audience fav & something I had seen before was Patrick Jean’s (onemorepro) Pixels

Amazing art direction and detail in David Freymond’s (L’Ogre) video for Hold Your Horses – 70 Million

and two more I had seen & absolutely love – David Wilson’s (Blink) We Got Time and AB/CD/CD’s (Frenzy) Lilly Allen Fuck You vid.

Yep. A lot of great stuff. All the films are on Saatchi’s YouTube Chanel.
