Toronto-based Westside Studio has added photographer Wade Hudson to its roster.
The Jamaican-born, Toronto-based photographer is renowned for his striking work across portraiture, beauty and lifestyle—highlighting the best sides of everyday people, models and celebrities alike.
Hudson’s highly approachable method of working with talent creates a sense of intimacy with subjects that enables him to capture genuine vulnerability. He has previously described his style as “honest and personal.”
Westside Studio Director of Sales Caitlin Jeffery says that Hudson’s capabilities with studio lighting and passion were major factors in why he was added to the Westside roster. “We are so excited to have Wade join the team,” said Jeffery. “When we first sat down with him, we knew immediately he’d be a great fit. His drive and enthusiasm is contagious, and exactly the motivation we all needed coming out of the lockdown.”
From a brand perspective, Hudson has conducted shoots for clients spanning a wide range of commercial sectors—including Adidas, New Balance, Canon, NYX Cosmetics, Garnier Fructis and Spotify.
From his design beginnings creating flyers for music shows in Jamaica to traveling through Thailand with his camera, Wade has always enjoyed the journey. He is equally at home creating stunning images for the design and ad industry as he is in the art world. Earlier this year his photography was showcased in an ongoing exhibition at Union Station called “143 (I Love You)” that looked at love through the eyes of Black artists.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Westside,” says Hudson. “Their aesthetic and approach is perfectly aligned with my approach to photography, and I expect it to be a highly productive and rewarding partnership.”
