Vapor Music is pleased to announce that it is acquiring RMW Music. Moving forward under the name Vapor RMW, the addition of RMW allows Vapor to reinvent itself and expand in the post audio space. With the extra bandwidth, not only will Vapor be well-positioned to propel the significant growth it’s experienced of late, but also to galvanize its client experience.
Having reached a point in its evolution where it needed to increase the amount of workflow it could handle, the acquisition of RMW was a perfect fit for Vapor and will help the studio to achieve its strategic growth goals quickly and efficiently. The addition of RMW’s facilities will allow Vapor to better cater to simultaneous sessions across the board, a need that increasingly began to present itself as the studio continued on its upward growth trajectory. The acquisition also reinforces Vapor’s creative culture, including the gaming and record label side of its business. The extra studio space will help with Vapor’s Fifth Kid Records label in particular, improving its capacity for providing a creative outlet and home for its recording artists.
A reel of notable and award-winning work from Vapor Music and RMW Music is posted above.
“The acquisition instantly gives us a much greater market share in terms of post audio both in this country and internationally,” said Joey Serlin, President/Creative Director at Vapor Music Group. “We’re now in a position to collaborate, we have a company full of award-winning creative directors and can offer our clients the best in all the areas we cover. Whether it’s sound design, original composition, licensing, or voice direction, we are now in a position to offer decades of combined experience. I really do feel that this puts us in the position to be the best in the country at what we do.”
“I look forward to offering our clients an incredibly impressive roster of creative directors, who collectively represent a dynamic range of experience, talent and passion: Joey Serlin, Ted Rosnick, Brendan Quinn, Dustin Anstey and Art Mullin,” added Lindsey Bates, Managing Director, Vapor Music. “The possibilities for creative execution are endless.”
With attention to detail and a mindset that’s in-line with Vapor’s creative aesthetic, RMW, which was founded by CEO/Producer/Track Director Ted Rosnick and Partner/Producer/Composer Steve Mackinnon is very like-minded when it comes to the pursuit of perfection and exploration in audio. “Like Vapor, RMW is heavily awarded and has a history of responding to briefs by stepping outside of the standard solutions. The fit was seamless as both studios are completely aligned creatively,” adds Serlin.
“Steve and I have for many years admired the amazing work of Joey and his team,” said Rosnick. “This acquisition of RMW by Vapor is going to change the landscape in this country of what an audio house is capable of. The talent pool and resources of both companies together is insanely deep. All we can say is get ready for some truly awesome work!”
Rosnick will be staying on with the newly integrated studio as a creative director.
Going forward, while some things will change, it will mostly be business as usual. Vapor will maintain RMW’s location on Adelaide Street in Toronto’s west end, though it will be refurbished with its technical capacities updated. They will also be maintaining their east end studio, located on George Street.
“Our clients can rest assured that they will be able to work with the same creative directors and have access to the same composers, sound designers and voice directors,” said Serlin.
The official close date of the deal is July 28.
