The one-year-old studio expands its capabilities in sectors including automotive food and beverage, visual lifestyle and dialogue.

A little more than a year since its launch, Toronto production studio Undivided has significantly bolstered its talent roster with a wave of new director and photographer hires. The new appointments further the studio’s commitment to assembling a roster of young, diverse artists.

The new additions to Undivided’s growing roster of talent are director/photographer David De Stefano, director/photographer Justin Abernethy; writer/director Benjamin Lussier; and director Deluxe.

Undivided has grown quickly since it was launched by the husband-and-wife team of Scott Houghton and Nikki Ormerod in March 2021. Today, it boasts a roster of 19 directors and photographers, and has created acclaimed work for clients including Hyundai, IKEA, Holt Renfrew, Starbucks, Telus, H&M, Virgin Mobile, Scarborough Health Network and Quaker.

“With the success of Undivided’s first year we saw the need to expand the roster and strengthen areas in commercial ad space,” says Scott Houghton, Partner and Executive Producer, Undivided. “We are excited to grow our already talented team and will continue do so with the right people.”

David De Stefano applied the experience and knowledge stemming from his early career as an art director at Montreal advertising agencies to become a specialist in food and beverage photography and direction. He possesses an unmatched eye for light, colour and composition, while his collaborative nature enables him to bring both clients’ and agencies visions to life. View David De Stefano’s reel.

Enticed by the ability to create a narrative within a single frame, Justin Abernethy trained as a photographer but subsequently expanded his skillset to include directing. Heavily inspired by music, art and fashion, his work with brands including Roots Canada, Samsung and OVO balances a natural approach to dark surrealism with attention to detail. Based in Montreal, Benjamin Lussier brings his background in photography and visual effects to his directing. Known for his visual flair, deep understanding of FX and an ear for music, he has helmed more than 20 music videos and 40 commercials for brands including Toyota, Blue Cross, McCain, Loblaws and the National Film Board of Canada. A car aficionado, Deluxe specializes in automotive filmmaking, applying graphic arts skills and technical capabilities to projects that have been recognized for their compelling narratives and eye-catching visuals. He started his career in the fashion world working with leading labels like Lacoste and Vivienne Westwood before shifting his focus to the auto segment. He has since created branded content for major manufacturers including Hyundai, Toyota, Porsche and Mercedes. View Deluxe’s reel.
