The well-travelled director is renowned for ability to blend moving performances with strong visual storytelling

Toronto-based Partners Film has added commercial director Brent Foster to its growing talent roster.

A Toronto native and world traveller, Foster is renowned for his ability to blend moving performances with extraordinary visual storytelling to create work that is simultaneously humanistic and fantastical.

Known for his ability to extract authentic performances from his performers, Foster is fond of casting everyday people.

His most recent projects include CAMH’s ambitious brand spot “No One Left Behind,” as well as work for clients as varied as SickKids, Canada Life, KIA Canada, and Huawei. His non-commercial projects include the documentary Enough, about a woman fighting back against violence in one of Nairobi’s most notorious slums.

“We were really drawn to Brent’s ability to combine dramatic visuals, seamless VFX, and intensely human performances to create stories that have an almost magical feeling,” says Gigi Realini, executive producer with Partners Film. “His rapid growth as a director over the past couple of years is impressive and really speaks to his creative abilities. We are excited to partner with him in his next phase of directing.”

Foster’s stunning work has already received widespread industry accolades and recognition, including young director awards at Shots and Cannes, as well as the Clio Awards, ADCC, and Marketing Awards.

His career has taken him as far afield as Los Angeles, where he was a photojournalist for the Los Angeles Times; and India, where he worked as a freelancer for media outlets including The New York Times.
