I’ve never seen a silent film on a big screen. I’ve never seen a Mary Pickford film and I’ve never been to Toronto’s historic Casa Loma. Last night, I killed three birds with one stone.

Mary Pickford was born 121 years ago yesterday (in Toronto), and last night I went to see her in her last silent film, My Best Girl (the entire film is above). It was part of the Toronto’s Silent Film Festival and the screening was held at Casa Loma and beautifully accompanied by Clark Wilson on the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ. I loved it. It was awesome. If you ever have a chance to see a silent film, accompanied by a theatre organ, I highly suggest doing it. I’m definitely going to attend another screening at next year’s festival.

To promote this year’s festival, Cossette Toronto did super cool campaign using Instagram to create silent film trailers. Check it out.
